Thermadome Rooflight - Ventilation
Permanent trickle ventilation
Spacer washers are inserted into the Thermadome skylight fixings to provide permanent ventilation. Neither the skylight’s security nor weather protection is compromised by the 5-10mm gap around the complete perimeter.
Controlled trickle ventilation
Trickle ventilators can be factory fitted to Therma-kerb PVC 150, 300mm and PVC opening frames. As standard, the trickle ventilators are secured to two sides supplying a background ventilation of 8000mm2, which meets with Building Regulations.
Controlled louvre ventilation
A vent collar unit constructed with adjustable louvres is positioned between the builder’s kerb and the skylight dome. As standard, the vents are positioned to two opposite sides. The units are available as a 150mm high, white multi-chambered PVC-u collar, or as a 100mm high aluminium collar with white foamed PVC-u internally insulated lining. The skylight is fitted with vents on all four sides if a greater level or airflow is necessary.
Vents and cowls are secured directly in the side wall, when using Alu-kerbs, Alu-kerb adaptors and Therma-kerbs 300mm high. An external weather cowl protects the fully adjustable louvre vents from the elements. The vents are operated by a hooked rod, of 1.5, 2 or 3m lengths.
Powered ventilation
Thermadome skylights are supplied with Vent Axia Solo centrifugal extract fans in cases where natural ventilation is inadequate. The extract fans are high performance and manufactured to ventilate small rooms such as internal bathrooms and toilets.
The extract fans are positioned in the side wall of Therma-kerb PVC-u 300/s, or Therma-kerb PVC’s 150/v. The extract performance of the extract fans is 85 m3/hr (24 l/s) and they can be fitted in more than one side. To facilitate greater air movement, white PVC lined fan collars with pre-cut apertures are supplied, allowing installation of larger axial fans (e.g. Vent-Axia T-series).
Opening ventilation
Thermadome skylights can be manufactured with hinged opening frames where maximum natural air movement is needed. A winding rod operates a manual spindle, or electric motor for remote controlled frames. A tandem spindle unit is fitted in cases where the hinged side surpasses 1.3m.
Hinged opening frames are manufactured from PVC-u when used to fit an Alu-kerb or Therma-kerb upstand. An aluminium frame is supplied when mounting direct to a builder’s kerb.
Electric motors are available and can be specified to open up to 600mm. These can be supplied with open / close switches (wiring by others). Insect screens in almost every size are also available in conjunction with manual opening frames, Therma-kerbs and Alu-kerb upstands. These are available at an extra cost.
