Starglaze Rooflights
A comprehensive range of PVC glass Skylights with ventilation options and two kerb options.
Glass Specification - Starglaze glass skylights:
6.4 Clear Laminated Low E Coated Inner Pane
16 mm Air Gap
6mm Clear Toughened Outer Pane
Starglaze rooflights and skylights have a remarkably low U value of 1.3, which exceeds Part L requirements. A key benefit of a Mark 1 kerb is excellent thermal performance.
Ventilation Options for Rooflights
Ventilation frames are manufactured from a complex PVC profile. This profile is designed to effectively ‘dock’ between the kerb or kerb adaptor profile and the glazing module. This produces a warm, safe and secure weathered connection with no cold bridges.
The arrangement of the ventilation area is flexible, although this depends on the specific requirements.
As an example, the following features could be included:
- A PVC extruded profile rotary ventilator device can be mounted in the sidewall of the accessory frame. Simply operate by turning the handle. This system uses a continuous cowl feature and is cylindrical in shape, therefore protecting it from any outside elements. Integral insect mesh can also be used as protection.
- A unique continuous hinge can be used to activate the entrance to the glazing and ventilation area, permitting high volume air ventilation. This hinge can either be electric or manual.
Mark 1 PVC Kerb
The Mark 1 PVC kerb is fully compatible with any roofing membrane. This kerb permits easy bonding throughout the process of installation as it is externally keyed and fully thermally-broken. A weather bar protects the edge of the exposed waterproofing membrane.
The Mark 1 PVC kerb ensures excellent insulation and low U values. The risk of condensation is also reduced and there is no cold bridging, as a result of its cellular construction.
We can also manufacture a metal foot termination piece to suit any roof opening; this provides complete flexibility of insulation configuration, height and angle of splay.
Mark 2 PVC Kerb
The Mark 2 PVC kerb is produced incorporating ‘all thermoplastic construction,’ this guarantees low maintenance, high resistance to weathering and exceptional thermal efficiency.
Weld strength and weather-tightness are assured, due to the thick 2mm wall and weather seal on all opening skylights. Moisture drains to the outside of the property thanks to the integral cascade water management system. Air leakage also fulfils Part L criteria. The kerb is torch-on system friendly and the PVC is finished with a unique ‘key,’ assisting adhesion of a membrane.
