Stardome - Automatic Opening Vents
The Stardome AOV provides complete specification flexibility. They are commonly located at the head of a stairwell or at the top of a ventilation shaft. For smoke extraction, 1.0 or 1.5 m2 of free vent area is required.

The top or lid of the unit can be supplied in two forms:
- Single, double or triple skin polycarbonate glazed top. Available in a variety of sizes.
- An insulated, solid metal panel with a polyester powder coating. This is normally used when ventilation only required in the event of a fire and found at the head of a smoke shaft. Used in instances where no light is required.
Stardome AOVs can be fixed directly to the roof deck with their own kerb, with the roofing membrane being dressed up the outside of an insulated kerb.
We can supply a kerb adaptor in cases where the kerb is constructed as part of the roofing system, i.e. a builder’s kerb, or metal roofing.
Aluminum or galvanised steel is used to produce kerbs and kerb adaptor units. These are both polyester powder coated white.
Mechanical and Electrical Engineers will usually recommend this particular automatic skylight as part of a complete fire ventilation, smoke extraction and alarm unit. A control panel would link all integral aspects of this system.
